Nick Calamaro
Project and programme management expert and Gibraltar community organiser.

Professional Background
With over a decade working in regulated industries, I've helped deliver major product releases and programmes of work for international organisations. I'm now bringing those skills to Gibraltar to help businesses and community organisations level up their processes, deliver better services, and support the teams that keep Gibraltar moving.
After growing up in Gibraltar, I studied natural sciences at Lancaster University and taught English in South America before starting my career in software development. After a couple of years staring at code, I started to take on projects from a commercial, compliance and strategic angle, while keeping up with the tech I still use to this day. I completed an MBA at the University of Gibraltar and have worked as a project manager in financial services and in iGaming where I helped deliver products into new countries, migrated businesses off old systems to keep their teams on the cutting edge, and introduced change management to keep them ahead of their competitors.
In 2021 I joined LiveScore as programme manager for their Netherlands brand, which successfully launched in March 2022 as one of the first outside operators. I was responsible for taking sportsbook, casino live together, ensuring everything was set up on the product from payments to live sports betting, as well as all operational processes from customer service to AML monitoring.
I'm now working with Gibraltar-based businesses and organisations to help them level up their own processes and get new products out to customers faster. Whether you're looking to launch a new product or to speed up the work you're already doing check out how we can support your organisation.
In Gibraltar
Those who know me know that I'm a fierce advocate for making sure that Gibraltar keeps moving forward. Since 2018 I've worked in local politics to help bring new voices into the public debate and to ensure that fairness and caring for our community takes priority over profit-minded thinking. I've worked closely with a wide range of local charities to help them set up events, manage their processes, and deliver quality care to their service users.
What I have been most proud of in all my roles has been making sure that every member of a team is able to contribute, and that their input is really heard.
Together Gibraltar
I joined Together Gibraltar in 2018, when it was still an activist group, hosting debates and making room for people who wanted to talk about policy without already being inside one of the established parties. In 2018 I joined the movement's first ever executive. In 2019, I took on the role of campaign manager and election agent, looking after the finances, the outreach, and a team of more than a hundred volunteers. In the 2019 election where we stunned Gibraltar by coming out of nowhere to take over 20% of the vote. In 2023 I took over leadership of the party and have used this position to work closely with government and with local organisations to push for progressive change and to fight for constituents facing hardship and struggling to get the help they need.

Men in Need
In 2024, I co-founded Men in Need Gibraltar, a charity for men facing unemployment, homelessness, addiction, mental health problems, domestic violence, and the work of rebuilding a life, including after prison. As secretary I maintain the charity's records, liaise with government departments, organise events and manage its online presence. I train our volunteers, and I help the men we support with employment skills: CVs, cover letters, training, and being ready to walk into a workplace again.

We work directly with the Ministry of Justice, and alongside the Ministry for Housing and the Ministry for Employment. The charity's role is to help men reach the support they're entitled to: someone who knows the path through the paperwork, and a route into the services that can change the next year of their lives.
Away from the desk
Alongside the more serious work, I'm an avid reader and a fan of all kinds of tabletop games. In 2025 I launched Dice Bastion, an online store for tabletop games, which hosts regular events in Gibraltar: board game nights, card games, murder-mystery nights and more.

Let's Talk
If you want an honest conversation about a project, a charity, or a process that has stopped fitting the way you actually work, I'd like to hear about it.
